I’ve been a professional mixed martial artist (MMA) since 2016, in addition to being a husband, father of two children, and a full-time home remodeler. I’ve loved the sport my entire life; I even remember being six years old and crying because I wasn’t as good as the coach’s son. After that day, my parents found the resources to not only push me physically, but also mentally in order to get the results I desired. “Keep Grinding!” was my motto. That’s all I knew and all I did – from High School football and baseball until I started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and MMA.

The Beginning: Jiu Jitsu

My martial arts career began with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2009. I would train anywhere from 3 to 5 hours, Monday through Saturday, and even Sundays most weeks. Fast forward to 2013: I began incorporating boxing and kickboxing to my BJJ. I had my first amuter fight in July of the same year. Those first few years were brutal. We’d spar, kickboxing with takedowns and submissions, not really caring or thinking of the damage we were putting our bodies through, day in and day out. During this time, I was also a full-time home remodeler; working on my knees removing tile, framing/trimming, and also doing exterior painting.

UFC, VEDA & Self-Care

I made my professional debut in September of 2016, and since then have achieved a 5-2 record. Though I’m still in the early stages of my fighting career, I definitely feel the wear and tear daily: from waking up stiff every morning, to having trouble sleeping after training 5 hours each night. Along with my duties at work, and making sure I am a loving husband and father, it’s safe to say that I have a lot on my plate. Thankfully, for the past 2 months I’ve been incorporating VEDA ECN (Endocannabinoid Nutrition) products into my daily regime.

They have been extremely beneficial in keeping me both physically and mentally rejuvenated. I admit that at first I was sceptical about using CBD products, thinking it was just the latest fad. However, after looking at the most recent research and trying the products myself, I can honestly say CBD is indeed a “game-changer”. To me, the best thing about VEDA Sport ECN products is that they only use CBD Isolate. For a professional athlete like myself, this is very important. Endocannabinoids are vital to our system in helping with sleep, metabolism, pain, and inflammation, among many other things.

Using VEDA Products

By far my favorite use of CBD has been the topical application of VEDA products. When training in traditional Brazilain Jiu Jitsu, one wears a uniform (known as a “gi”) that is made of thick cotton. The fingers take quite a beating when tugging and trying to manipulate your opponent with the help of their own suit.

I’ve used the topical roll-on everywhere from my knuckles, to my shoulders and ankles. Since CBD is also known as antibacterial, I’ve successfully used it on rashes for quick and efficient care. The sublingual tincture is best for me in the morning. I’ve been taking a drop under the tongue, and it has quickly and effectively helped me in getting rid of my early-morning stiffness.

My regime for a typical day is to wake up at 6am, work 7am-3-3:30pm, spend 30min to an hour with my wife and kids, and then I’m off to training from 5pm-9pm. Still, even with so much to do and all that adrenaline running through me, I often wouldn’t be able to fall asleep until 1am or later. The VEDA vape pen has really helped shorten that time span, as vaping helps the body to immediately absorb ECN.

The VEDA Advantage

Veda ECN has made me at true believer in CBD’s capabilities. This in turn has made me want to get more knowledgeable and to help other people learn more about CBD: for athletes, and for anybody looking for “A Healthier ‘You’”. I can’t imagine my daily supplement regime being without CBD ever again.
